Faryal Nayab
University of Central Asia (UCA), Tajikistan

Hailing from lone valley in Upper Chitral, I am Faryal Nayab – an undergraduate student majoring in economics at the University of Central Asia. I come from a middle-class family that consists of my parents and my six siblings. My mother is a teacher, and my father works as a government employee in NADRA. My siblings and I are studying in different schools, colleges, and universities inside and outside Pakistan. We are six sisters and one brother, who is the youngest of all and is four years old. I had started my schooling at Aga Khan school lone and in 2014, I got admission to Aga Khan higher secondary school kuragh as a grade 8 student. I completed my matric and Intermediate from AKHSS and in 2020, I got admitted into the University of Central Asia. While I received a good financial aid package from the university on my tuition fee, I still had to pay an annual amount of 1400$. This did not include my travel expenses and visa cost which added up to the university expenses, made my expenses beyond my parents’ affordability. Fortunately, I got to know about BTF scholarship and by awarding me with it, the organization has lightened my financial burden and allowed me to focus more on the important aspects of my university. As a future economist, I want to come away with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and want to work for the economic development of Chitral and want to contribute to the financial empowerment of women in Chitral. Through my personal experience, I realized that having low income or poverty is just a societal limitation, one should never give up on his/her dreams. There are platforms like BTF which are helping students and are encouraging them to flourish in their studies without financial burden. Instead of lingering over hardship, one should work to solve them and learn from them. Like DR. Ramzan, I hope to become a hope and source of encouragement for the students in my society in the future.
